Severe Storm Getting Interesting Now

Thursday, August 11, 2016

On the move again, staying south and east of the storm. The image above looks north from 32nd Avenue (W26) in eastern Benton County, Iowa, about .3-mile south of 69th Street and 1.3 miles northwest of the town of Atkins. Time is 6:13 pm CDT, Thursday, August 4, 2016. The turbulent line of storms seen in the background now feature several funnel "wannabes."

A right turn (east) onto 69th Avenue one minute later and looking north. Storm direction is toward the right background.

A quick stop and observation .75-mile later along 69th Avenue. Time 6:17 pm. Nikon D7200 DSLR camera.

Radar screen capture for 6:15 pm. Target icon is my position relative to the storm. White arrow is my camera's line of sight to the most intense area--located about 15 miles distant near Urbana, Iowa. Black arrows indicate storm movement.
