Last Supermoon of the Year

Friday, September 29, 2023

A full moon rises in the eastern sky at 7:26 pm CDT, Thursday, September 28, 2023, as seen from Boyson Road at Brentwood Drive NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This full moon was the fourth and last "Supermoon" of the year, with the other three occurring on July 3, August 1 and August 30. Since this event occurred in September, it is also known as a "Harvest Moon." A "Supermoon" is defined as a full moon when its orbit is closest to Earth. Image is a 1/2 second exposure at f/8, ISO 200, 70mm focal length. Nikon Z6ii camera.
