Just A Drop In The Rain Bucket

Clouds swirl above and rain shafts deposit precipitation below as a thundershower moved through the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area on the afternoon/evening of Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The rain was brief and did nothing to quench the dry conditions that were beginning to be felt in this part of the state. Along with the short duration rainfall, brief high wind gusts--up to 45 mph--accompanied the system, caused by precipitation evaporating in the dry air below the showers.
